I can’t believe we’re at Blogisode 4 of “2 D WORLD! (GERMANY)” already – and NOW WE’RE GETTING TO THE GOOD STUFF! Last time in Blogisode 3, you saw me performing at Glow Fete in Berlin. This time around for Blogisode 4, GET READY TO GO ON D’ ROAD for Karneval der Kulturen, AKA Berlin Carnival 2009!!!

That’s right – I said “on d road”! It was Carnival in the streets of Berlin, LITERALLY, and Yours Truly (alongside the Threeks Sound crew, Melissa AKA Missy Melone, and my manager, Joanne) hit the road with Berlin’s #1 Trini-style mas band, Purple Explosion and had a HELLUVA time.

Gotta say big ups to Threeks (Alex, Nico and Weasel), and ESPECIALLY to Missy Melone and my homey Jah Marks for making sure we were well taken care of all through the day – love you guys!

Also, Special Shout Out to Escobar/Bohannon and Yard Gear for allowing us FULL ACCESS to to the entire Purple Explosion band. (Remember the name Yard Gear – you’ll be hearing more about them later on.)

Special mention to London-based Soca artist Scrappy (he’s Montserrat’s biggest Soca artist) and his whole London Crew who were “getting on bad” by the truck all day (whaddup Strat’s Finest – thanks for the pics!).

Oh – and I can’t leave out my girls from the Wuk Up Terrorists who MADE me the purple “Trini” flag that I waved for the entire day lol (whaddup Marlene, Terris, Lady Cham and Lady Fiyah!).

Big shout out to to the international cast of DJs who blazed wicked Soca “chunes” all day long on the Yard/Bohannon Truck (which we were either ON or CHIPPING BEHIND all day). Our Berlin Carnival experience definitely would not have been the same without getting hyped up by the turntable skills of  “Uncle” Barney Millah (Germany), Threeks Sound (Germany), Mash Up Crew (Germany), Jam Masters (Netherlands), Soca Revolution (Sweden) and the always-energetic DJ Tony Tempo (out of Atlanta, USA) on the mic!

The second truck in Purple Explosion (courtesy YAAM), housed hot German DJs like Supersonic Sound and the Soca Twins (big up Boone Chatta & Franky Fiyah), and also featured live performances by Vincy Soca star Kevin Lyttle as well as my fellow Trinis, Maximus Dan, Marlon Asher and Jah Melody.

For the Blogisode you’re about to see, it’s ALL about the Yard/Bohannon truck though – showing off all the Soca madness , the sexy costumes and the crazy energy that we experienced all day on the road.

And to top it off, we captured some incredible footage of my spontaneous performance on the truck later on in the day, which was nothing short of amazing.

FYI: In Germany, my 2005 hit “Up” remains my most popular song to this day – Germans go NUTS for it – which is why  I start every performance with it. They even have their own dance for the tune! Check the video to see their hands going up and down in unison as they do the “Up Dance” lol.

At the end of the video you’ll see just how SERIOUS Germany is about Soca music and Carnival. The whole German posse is jumping up and “mashing up the road” to Iwer George’s “People Want Water” – but that’s because it’s actually RAINING ON THEM while the song starts to play! And just like Trinis do back home, these Germans were NOT lettin a lil rain dampen their spirits at all. They actually mashed up the place MORE because the rain was falling!!! Now that’s love for Soca/Carnival, right there.

In closing, I just want to the thank the entire German Soca Massive for making my first Berlin Carnival experience one I will always remember fondly and smile about. (I have over 100 Facebook pics to prove it too lol.) Look for me in 2010 for KDK (Karneval der Kulturen) folks – you know I will be there to do it all over again…

I can hardly believe it, but we’re already up to BLOGISODE 3 of my Reality series “2 D World!” – and believe me we’re only JUST getting the party started – LITERALLY – in this one. Get ready to see your boy (Mista Vybe inna yuh Dancehall again) totally “mash up” Germany with a hype performance at one of the premiere events on Berlin’s Carnival calendar.

As the MC for the night, Weasel (of Threeks Sound) very accurately puts it while ushering me onstage at the very beginning of the clip : “It’s time to take it up to another f***in’ level!”

Believe me, words can’t express how happy I am to unveil these exclusive LIVE clips of me performing for the very appreciative German Soca Massive at Glow fete, which was held at the swany Bohannon Club. It was a once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget, and look forward to re-living soon for another Berlin Carnival (who say KDK 2010? lol).

With selector Nico at the controls and the rest of Threeks Sound in my corner, yours truly fully represented Soca and Trinidad And Tobago that night, as you’ll see from the amazing footage in this Blogisode.

By the way, big ups to the entire Threeks family for really holding me down on this performance. If you look closely, you’ll see Alex, Steffen and Weasel jumping and waving in the background – along with Nico. How my selector (Nico AKA Al Scratchino) managed to jump and wave and get on bad for my whole performance, while never missing a cue to bring in a new tune is beyond me though lol. What can I say? Threeks Sound “run tings” every time! (Big up my dawg Schoki and his crew SWS too!)

As for the the audience, you’ll see the German posse jump, wave, wine, shout “Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire” and pretty much do every single thing normally associated with a regular “maddd” Soca fete – except this one was halfway around the world in the middle of a nightclub in Berlin!

Special big up to London-based Soca artist Scrappy, who opened the show earlier and set the bar high for me, starting off the madness for the night with quite a bang. Bless up, bredrin!

I’m happy to say that the love of Soca was evident all night long – throughout my performance and his – and, again, the video speaks a thousand words as evidence of that.

All I can really say is thanks to the entire German Soca massive, special thanks to Threeks Sound and the management and staff of the Bohannon who all contributed to making Glow in Berlin an event that I will cherish forever.

Special shout out to Yard Gear in Berlin as well – the cool T-shirt I performed in came directly from them – you’ll see more of Yard Gear in coming blogisdes, I promise ;-)

This second installment takes place the morning after my wicked performance where I mashed up U-Club in Wuppertal, Germany. You get to meet up with myself and my manager Joanne outside of the hotel shortly after we dragged ourselves out of bed (only a couple hours after the actual show – no rest for the wicked lol). Then, we introduce you to some of the people that made our mini-tour in Germany both possible and pleasurable.

You’ll meet the crazy and very cool guys that were my DJs and entourage in Germany – the infamous Threeks Sound crew: Alex, Nico (wickedest Soca selector in Germany – Mista Vybe say dat!) and Weasel (you might remember him singing “I don’t know what you come to do but I come to get on real baaaaad” into my mic in during my performance of my tune “Up” back in Blogisde 1 lol).

You also get to meet the man we refer to as Mr. Business – AKA Steffen (AKA “Jah Marks” lol)… this guy LITERALLY came in at the last minute after some initial negotiation difficulties and magically organized a near-perfect mini-tour for us in like 7 DAYS! He also was the best driver, tour guide, host and ambassador for Germany’s Soca culture anyone could ask for lol. We’re forever in his debt (and in debt to his wifey Melissa too lol) for giving us this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the amazing love that Germany has for Soca music and Caribbean vibes in general.

Following the introductions, we travel 6 hours and many miles to the Bohannon club in the city of Berlin (the Soca mecca of Germany) later on that night, where I performed for Germany’s version of Glow (a popular concept in TnT  – a party where you must wear white to gain entrance). Before the performance begins, Jo and I talk a little about the trip thus far, the amazing German people, the love we received and many other topics.

This episode gives you some idea of how much the German Soca massive really loves Soca music and the culture of the islands, and how far they (and my manager and I) were willing to go to defend that culture.

As a matter of fact, right at the beginning of the clip, Joanne interviews the guys from Threeks Sound, one of whom is wearing a T-Shirt emblazoned with the slogan “Soca Or Die”, and when she asks: “Would you really die for Soca?” The answer is an unhesitate “DEFINITELY”.

That’s how Jo and I feel about Soca too and it shows in this clip, right up to when Weasel starts introducing my performance onstage at Glow…

For a while now we have been hinting on MistaVybeWorld.com and its related outlets (Vimeo, Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, etc) about SOMETHING BIG Coming Soon… and I’m thrilled to announce to you that SOMETHING BIG is finally here. :-D

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the internet – via MistaVybeWorld.com, of course – the first EVER reality series starring a Trini/Soca artist. Yes I said it. Hey – the truth is the truth – it’s the FIRST of its kind EVER. No one has ever done it quite like this before. What can I say? I like breaking new ground. ;-)

Yes – you read it right. Yours Truly (that would be ME – Mista Vybe) is starring in my own brand new Reality Show series, which we have fittingly titled “2 D World!”

Here’s the backstory: ever since  my manager Joanne and I landed in our respective home countries (she’s based in Toronto while I reside in Trinidad) after our amazing week in Germany, our blackberries and laptops haven’t stopped buzzing with questions and comments regarding our European trip and when people would be able to see and hear more about it – so here it is – a full season of my new show recorded during our fantastic week in Bundesrepublik Deutschland (that’s “Republic Of Germany” for you English-speakers lol).

From the moment we landed in Frankfurt, we really wished we could have carried everyone with us to experience the wonder of that week and soak in the incredible energy we encountered from the German “Soca Massive”, and then eventually we hit on the perfect solution!

Looking at the video footage Jo had shot in Frankfurt, Wedding, Berlin, Wuppertal and everywhere else we went, it was clear that we had captured some really special moments that we needed to share, and so the idea for a Reality Show to allow us to show our German trip “2 D World” (literally) was born.

After Jo wisely placed the footage in the skilled hands of Toronto-based director/editor/producer Keith Matthews Jr. (affectionately known as “Sav” to us) of God Stone Films and Sav Creative Media, what we emerged in the end with was nothing short of ground-breaking.

In this first episode of “2 D World” that we’re releasing today (September 2nd, 2009) YOU get the extreme honour of meeting my feisty manager and partner-in-crime Joanne Marcano (I just call her Jo) as she leaves Toronto and heads to Germany to meet me so we can go do our first show that night.

Come along with us as Joanne and I link up in Frankfurt (after more than 10 hours each of flying) and meet our German hosts (big up Steffen AKA Jah Marks and the whole Threeks International Sound System). After driving 6 hours, yuh boy Mista Vybe (that’s me lol) totally “mashed up” Germany’s hottest Reggae club (U-Club) in Wuppertal with a wicked performance.

Despite having problems with my peformance CDs (which refused to be read by the CD players the DJs had that evening) and a malfunctioning laptop (so I couldn’t burn new CDs either), Jo, Threeks and I managed to get the situation under control just in time for me to deliver a truly incredible performance (even if I do say so myself) in Wuppertal.

A special Big Up to Steffen & Melissa (our gracious and hardworking hosts without whom the trip would not have been possible), the whole Threeks International crew (Nico, Alex & Weasel – we got mad love for you guys – thanks for being my DJs for the trip), Count Shortleg (luv ya Schoki!), the always hype Wuk Up Terrorist girls (Germany’s Number One Soca dance crew and my favourite German fans), and of course everyone at U-Club  and the Hotel Astor in Wuppertal.
