This is a time of new beginnings and new movements for me. I’m spreading my wings, trying new things and building a new future for myself. Feels good to be all shiny and new lol. Seriously though, as part of the process of evolving, I signed up for a new SOUNDCLOUD account, and seriously updated my long-standing ReverbNation account as well. In other news, I also radically updated my ReverbNation profile. I’ve been on that site for a few years but recently became aware of how they updated the options there, so now all my fans (that’s you) can do alot more than just LISTEN TO A WHOLE BUNCH OF COOL MISTA VYBE SONGS on the page and BECOME A FAN. Cool new features include an interface to WATCH ALL MY LATEST YOUTUBE VIDEOS or KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST PRESS ON ME.

Once again, thanks to EVERYONE who tweeted, Facebook messaged, bbm-ed, texted, called or found some other way to wish me a Happy Birthday or a Happy Belated B’day during the past week. I’m really overwhelmed and humbled by all you guys’ love and support. Oh, and for all you folks out there who viewed my first Birthday Video and kept asking “Where’s Part 2?”, I’m happy to announce the debut of PART 2! On a personal note, I really have to send my heartfelt thanks and love out to my cousin, bestie and Manager, Joanne. As you might have read in my my last blog post, I celebrated my birthday on July 7, 2010. I have to say thanks from the bottom of my heart to all the fans, friends, family and well-wishers who sent me all those Facebook messages, tweets, emails, texts, etc wishing me a Happy Birthday. You guys helped me have one of the best Birthdays EVER this year, so I decided to give back some of the love you guys showed me by sharing some of my birthday moments with you all. I’ve been dying for a proper video camera to shoot my YouTube videos (behind the scenes, studio sessions, etc) with for the longest time, and my favourite cousin (not to mention my Manager) Joanne, finally surprised me with a video and photo camera (it does both equally well) just after midnight on July 7. Lucky for you guys, Joanne caught the whole surprise event on her video camera, so now you can laugh along with us as I open my first present on the stroke of midnight on my birthday lol.

This is how I #GetFamous on my pre-birthday! (Shout out to Famous Club Clothing)

Happy Birthday to MEEE!!! Yes folks it’s my b-day today (July 7th, 2010), and I’m enjoying it to the fullest so far, thanks to a brand new attitude, and some help from my cousin/manager/bff Joanne Marcano aka @FocusedDiva! The birthday celebrations actually started YESTERDAY at Madmen Productions studio, where I had a WICKED session with my homey Madman Johann (wait till you guys hear this SONG – wow!). Read on to see and hear the rest of of my b-day happenings thus far! *wink*

Talk about starting the party early lol! Madman Johann’s production partner Ricky Rameshwar (also well known as the Musical Director of Soca star Destra’s band) came through the session to lay down some keys and suggested we “lash some drinks”, and the next thing I know there’s a case of drinks in the studio!

Just for the record (and because I know some of you are bound to be wondering), half of the case was Stag (that’s a Trini beer for you foreigners lol) and half was Guinness, plus there were two bottles of Shandy Sorrel for Jo (yeah – she sucks lol, Shandy is for teenagers lol).

I’ll fast forward through all the Stag-induced happiness that ensued after this point and jump to midnight on July 7th, which was when Joanne OFFICIALLY started my birthday with some FAB gifts for which i will love her eternally!!!

If you wanna know what was in the those gift wrapped boxes last night and what I’m up to for the rest of my birthday today… you’re gonna have to read the next blog post! Jo and I are hustling off to Maracas to enjoy some bake n’ shark and the sound of the waves (which is one of my favourite ambience noises on earth btw).

Uhmmm… okay, as I’m typing, plans have changed because it’s RAINING CATS AND DOGS here in TnT *sigh* Sooo… no beach today… switching to Plan B lol.

Meet YouTube Sensation and newly signed So So Def producer/songwriter Mike Kalombo AKA Klassic! He makes beats live on YouTube that are CRAZY – like THIS ONE, which I’m DYING to get my hands (or more specifically my VOCALS) on…

Dang, that track would be perfect for the (top secret) new project I’m working on that’s gonna take me in a new (musical) direction. Yo Mike! Holla at me and let’s make some HITS, man!

I’ve watched Mike Kalombo‘s rise from relatively new YouTuber to meeting up with Jermaine Dupri and eventually getting signed as a So So Def producer for a while now. This dude REALLY motivates me. I need to work with him one day – SERIOUSLY. GET FAMILIAR with this guy NOW, cause he’s gonna be multi-platinum soon, I promise you.

Sooo… who’s gonna link me up so I can work with Mike? *Ben Stein voice* “Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?”(uhmm.. Management? Where’s Jo at?)

Michael Jackson is, in my humble opinion, the greatest entertainer EVER – period. Today marks a year since the passing of one of my favourite Pop icons, and I found myself reminiscing about his work, only to realise that his career of work literally defines my life. Almost every song, music video or live performance I found while perusing the net took me back to a specific time, place and event in my life. Thank you for the memories and the inspiration – RIP MJ!

A while back you might remember me taking a trip to St. Lucia to oversee the recording of a Soca single I wrote for my homegirl Nicole “Nikki” David. Well, the time has come. The song – “Nasty” – has been released – and from what I hear, it’s getting GREAT reception from the Soca fans in St. Lucia! While I was there I also managed to do a little “liming”  (that’s Trini slang for “hanging out”), which is always a pleasure, when one is blessed to be in beautiful St. Lucia.

Big up to Curty (one of Lucia’s top producers, who also happened to produce the riddim that “Nasty” is on), and special shout out to all the other Lucian Soca artists that I bounced up in my three-day whirlwind trip to SLU. Large up Qpid, Scady, Teddyson John, Penn, and everybody that I hung out with at Nikki’s band rehearsal for the big NG Soca Stage show that weekend.

Special shouts to my bredrin Mr. Killa – the reigning Soca Monarch and Road March King of Grenada – who also made me laugh during that impromptu “lime”. For me personally, it’s always a pleasure seeing Killa, since we have a long history of mutual respect and collaboration. For those of you with short memories, check out my appearance on Killa’s “Warriors (Remix)” (also featuring Naya George) and take a listen to the 2009 collaboration I did with Killa, titled “Show Off” as well!

Anyway, let’s get back to talking about the big NG Soca Stage Launch event this weekend that I was blessed to attend! Shouts to Kayo and the whole NG crew for putting on a great show on Saturday night! All the Lucian stars mashed up the place, so props to my Lucian Soca crew who did a great job starting the Carnival season in SLU with a bang.

It was nice to see artists like Private 6, Platinum George, Kakal, Mantius, Nicole David (of course), Ricky T, Ilah Man, Teddyson George, Qpid and Mr. Pringles “mash up” the place. Not to mention my homie Mr. Killa, who lit up the stage as usual with an awesome performance to close the show.

It was almost sad to leave SLU the next day, but at the same time, there’s no place like home – especially right now for me, since I know I have crazy work to do. Remember a couple blog posts back I was telling you that I started a new project that I’m excited about? *smile & wink*

Big up to all the Lucian Crew, and special thanks again to my sistren Nikki David for showing me a wonderful time in Lucia. I can’t wait for Nikki’s BIGGG CHUNE to hit the airwaves so she can mash up the place with it! In the meantime, her controversial Groovy single “Mr. Dean Dough” is already tearing up the Lucian airwaves and I’m confident that the song I wrote for her (and did some COOL background vocals on too) will cause even MORE trouble in Lucia lol.

Big up to to young upcoming producer Yogi of Studio 9 in St. Lucia who did a good job of engineering the session and recording some CRAZY vocals. (Uhmm… 110 tracks of vocals and counting! lol)
