Once again, thanks to EVERYONE who tweeted, Facebook messaged, bbm-ed, texted, called or found some other way to wish me a Happy Birthday or a Happy Belated B’day during the past week. I’m really overwhelmed and humbled by all you guys’ love and support. Oh, and for all you folks out there who viewed my first Birthday Video and kept asking “Where’s Part 2?”, I’m happy to announce the debut of PART 2! On a personal note, I really have to send my heartfelt thanks and love out to my cousin, bestie and Manager, Joanne. Thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure my 2010 Birthday was – beyond a shadow of a doubt – THE BEST B’DAY EVER!!! Love you! (Okay, now the birthday week is finally done and I can go back to work lol)

As you might have read in my my last blog post, I celebrated my birthday on July 7, 2010. I have to say thanks from the bottom of my heart to all the fans, friends, family and well-wishers who sent me all those Facebook messages, tweets, emails, texts, etc wishing me a Happy Birthday. You guys helped me have one of the best Birthdays EVER this year, so I decided to give back some of the love you guys showed me by sharing some of my birthday moments with you all. I’ve been dying for a proper video camera to shoot my YouTube videos (behind the scenes, studio sessions, etc) with for the longest time, and my favourite cousin (not to mention my Manager) Joanne, finally surprised me with a video and photo camera (it does both equally well) just after midnight on July 7. Lucky for you guys, Joanne caught the whole surprise event on her video camera, so now you can laugh along with us as I open my first present on the stroke of midnight on my birthday lol.

This is how I #GetFamous on my pre-birthday! (Shout out to Famous Club Clothing)

Happy Birthday to MEEE!!! Yes folks it’s my b-day today (July 7th, 2010), and I’m enjoying it to the fullest so far, thanks to a brand new attitude, and some help from my cousin/manager/bff Joanne Marcano aka @FocusedDiva! The birthday celebrations actually started YESTERDAY at Madmen Productions studio, where I had a WICKED session with my homey Madman Johann (wait till you guys hear this SONG – wow!). Read on to see and hear the rest of of my b-day happenings thus far! *wink*

Talk about starting the party early lol! Madman Johann’s production partner Ricky Rameshwar (also well known as the Musical Director of Soca star Destra’s band) came through the session to lay down some keys and suggested we “lash some drinks”, and the next thing I know there’s a case of drinks in the studio!

Just for the record (and because I know some of you are bound to be wondering), half of the case was Stag (that’s a Trini beer for you foreigners lol) and half was Guinness, plus there were two bottles of Shandy Sorrel for Jo (yeah – she sucks lol, Shandy is for teenagers lol).

I’ll fast forward through all the Stag-induced happiness that ensued after this point and jump to midnight on July 7th, which was when Joanne OFFICIALLY started my birthday with some FAB gifts for which i will love her eternally!!!

If you wanna know what was in the those gift wrapped boxes last night and what I’m up to for the rest of my birthday today… you’re gonna have to read the next blog post! Jo and I are hustling off to Maracas to enjoy some bake n’ shark and the sound of the waves (which is one of my favourite ambience noises on earth btw).

Uhmmm… okay, as I’m typing, plans have changed because it’s RAINING CATS AND DOGS here in TnT *sigh* Sooo… no beach today… switching to Plan B lol.

It is now the year 2010. The minutes have ticked away and the year 2009 faded away. Myself and the MistaVybeWorld Team have a major review of our many accomplishments and blessings for 2009 coming soon… but for this moment, allow me to look forward to 2010, bearing in mind the many trials I have been through personally and professionally, and the amazing lessons I have learned and skills I have manifested in the last year. Read on, and walk with me into 2010, why don’t you? ;-)

In 2010… I will constantly smile to myself, secure in the knowledge that 1 is, indeed, the Magic Number. What do I mean by this? I’m no longer afraid to be alone; to step out by myself; to go against the grain. I was born alone, grew up alone (yeah – I’m an only child) and somewhere along the way became dependent on human contact and forgot that I am fine all by myself. Not that I don’t have wonderful people around me – because I do (you know who you are and I love and cherish you all). I just also am happy with ME and more powerful as a result than I have been in a long time. :-)

In 2010… I will look back at 2009 remember that I proved to myself and everyone else that I am more powerful than ANYONE (even myself) dared imagine, and that the gifts I have been blessed with – coupled with hard work, determination and a circle of genuine support and unconditional love – allow me the potential to achieve ANYTHING I set my sights on… and more.

In 2010… I will cherish the moment instead of spending so much time chasing the future that I fail to realise that celebrating the present and honouring the past are equally important. I work so much and so hard (and chase my dreams so frantically) that sometimes I forget how blessed I am and have been, just to be alive in addition to having the many blessings that I do. Many things happened in 2009 to remind me of this over and over again. Losing friends, dear colleagues and lifetime inspirations of mine definitely drove the point home (RIP Sheldon, Koko and Auntie Mairoon). But this also made me stronger, wiser, and more aware of how fragile life is and how much we need to remember to stop and smell the roses and reflect on the positive things we have achieved.

In 2010… I will let go, let live, and move on. Not everything works out the way you imagine, and things SELDOM work out exactly as you planned. Sometimes things go in a different direction than you initially envisioned. You can do two things when this happens: become angry and jaded OR let go, let live, and move on. In 2009 countless unexpected twists and turns took place in my life path, but in the end I am happy with where I am on the road to success, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the journey in the year to come. So I let live. I let go. And I am moving on. This is a course of action I highly suggest to EVERYONE. Being happy takes much less energy than being bitter or self-righteous about mistakes (or other people for that matter). Think about it ;-)

And last, but by no means least – in 2010… I will be BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER AND STRONGER. I will evolve! Evolution is the key to survival and I am a SURVIVOR.

Seasons Greetings everyone! I’m tempted to tease all you foreigners out there by mentioning that I’m currently in warm Trinidad, munching my first official piece of black cake (fruit cake for the non-Trinis) and sipping on a cool glass of sorrel… but that would be cruel, right?

Nah – the truth is, I’m really just writing this to send out a special Christmas wish to all of you out there, as my special little Yuletide gift for everyone.

As much as we ALL love the fun stuff (exchanging gifts, enjoying our favourite holiday dishes, liming with family and friends, partying, etc), I feel honour-bound to remind you all to HAVE LOTS OF FUN – ENJOY YOURSELF TO THE FULLEST by all means, BUT do so RESPONSIBLY. Let’s have a SAFE, happy and holy Christmas.. or Hannukkah, or Kwanzaa… or whatever you happen to be celebrating this Holiday Season.

All my love, appreciation and best wishes go out to you at this joyous time. Make the most of it – savour every moment – because life is short.

Me? I’ll be listening to the sweet strains of my family’s new favourite Christmas album, “Ma$tamind Productions presents: A Caribbean Soul Christmas” (featuring MY rendition of “Little Drummer Boy”), while munching on my black cake (thanks Cousin Aileen!), sipping on my sorrel and enjoying the heavenly smell of my Mom’s homemade bread wafting through the house, while … Ahhhhhhh – now DAT is a real Trini Christmas (for me anyway)!
