TEDDYSON JOHN – GONE CLEAR [on the Soufrière Riddim] »» WRITTEN BY MISTA VYBE!!!

As promised in my last blog post a couple days back, more new Soca releases keep coming featuring #SONGWRITING BY MISTA VYBE! One of two Mista-Vybe-penned tunes released on the Soufrière Riddim in the wee hours of the morning today (June 30th, 2012) is an energetic Power Soca smash by St. Lucia’s favourite Soca crooner, my good bredrin Teddyson “TJ” John. The song is fittingly titled “Gone Clear“.

I must say, that from the beginning I thought that “Gone Clear” was quite a fitting lyrical concept, given that Teddyson is having by far one of the best St. Lucia Carnival seasons of his career. Following a much-talked about performance at St. Lucia’s famed Jazz Festival where he (and his popular band The TJ Project) wowed his Lucian fans, Teddyson has been pumping out hit after hit for 2012.

TJ already has quite a few popular songs under his belt for this year, including his Groovy Monarch contender “Land Of Wine” and his fast-rising collaboration “On The Road” (also written by Mista Vybe), which features Antiguan Soca star Tian Winter.

Now Teddyson looks enthusiastically toward the Power Soca Monarch and Caribbean Soca Monarch competitions in his homeland, thanks to this scintillating track co-written by Yours Truly, the one and only Mista Vybe.

In my mind, the phrase “We Gone Clear” (that Teddyson originally came up with as his song concept) fits in perfectly with the energetic vibe of Precision Productions‘ Soufrière Riddim.

I did my best as a songwriter to tell the story of that euphoric feeling a Soca lover gets when they’re at a fete or on the road for Carnival. Describing the high that Soca music and Carnival gives you isn’t an easy task, but if I have to sum it up in one song, I think this song would be it.

There are so many people to thank on this project, because so many different talented and skilled people blessed it in so many ways, off of whom I’m thankful for.

Of course, special shout out to the Kasey Phillips and the whole Precision Productions camp, who did an excellent job producing, arranging, recording and mixing the amazing Soufrière Riddim!

Hats off the Kasey’s dad, the legendary Trinidadian producer (and a longtime colleague of mine) Kenny Phillips, who added untouchable horn arrangements to the riddim too.

Of course, I can’t go without mentioning all the live musicians who contributed to the riddim too, so big up Alpha Simpson (live drums), BJ Saunders (live bass), RJ (keyboards), Jeremy McIntosh (guitars), and the EHS Horn Section (Roger Jaggesar, Garvin Marcelle & David Jacob) on live horns!

And of course, thanks to my homie Teddyson John for bringing me in on what turned out to be a very rewarding project. I appreciate the love, dawg!

After all that there’s nothing relly left to say but ENJOY THE MUSIC! Yuh done know “We Gone Clear” for St. Lucia Carnival 2012 and beyond!!!

Remember to COMMENT ON THE YOUTUBE VIDEO, and, as always, feel free to hit me up on Twitter or Facebook!

Blessings and love, especially to all my SLU peeps. Have a happy Carnival! Mista Vybe OUTTT!!!
