BRAND NEW TUNE FOR CARNIVAL 2010: “JAM IN DE ROAD”!
Alright folks, it’s time to get ready for Trinidad Carnival 2010 with a BRAND NEW TUNE by Yours Truly (Mista Vybe inna yuh Dancehall again), made specifically for all you masqueraders and J’ouvert “jumbies” out there!
My new single “Jam In De Road” is nothing but good old-fashioned, Hardcore Soca. It’s the kind of tune you “chip down the road” behind a big truck to on J’ouvert morning or Carnival Tuesday, with a smile on your face (and a “wine” in your waist too, for that matter lol). Simply put – this is sweet music to play mas to.
On the creative side, I have to give props to song’s writer Andrew Phillip for providing me with the first single of my career that actually didn’t have a hand in writing! Also, much respect to the production team of Andrew Phillip, Daniel “Shac DeBerg” Burgess and well known veteran producer/musician and mastering engineer Martin “Mice” Raymond, who are now known collectively as The HiTTLab, for doing an amazing job on producing this one.
Oh – and in case those authentic old-school Soca guitars and wailing live horns on “Jam In De Road” catch your ear, you might be interested to know that all those vibrant live touches were provided by members of the legendary Roy Cape All Stars (of which Andrew is a member). Big shout out to Sly (on guitars) and the Roy Cape horns!
This one is definitely something for the masqueraders out there and anyone who loves the vibe of an authentic Trini-style “riddum section”, “jammin’ iron” on the road for Carnival.
